Never Just A Spoonful of Sugar When Your PMSING

Dessert should be a reward! As a kid, I would finish my veggies in exchange for a cookie (or two). But when I PMS, my cravings kick in and one or two cookies can easily turn into one or two more. But, there is no denying the pleasure that comes from sweet treats. 

...at least for a little bit. When I PMS, I love chocolate chip cookies, sweet and salty combos, and vanilla bean ice cream. When I decide to indulge, it feels and tastes amazing at first.

Unfortunately, no matter how long it has been since I've indulged, I quickly begin to regret dessert. I start to question if it was worth the extra calories and the heightened PMS symptoms. I worry that the sugar would increase my dopamine levels and leave me addicted or if the sharp spike in my blood sugar levels would cause an increase in fat. 


As I learn more about sugar and its negative effects, dessert no longer seems like a reward; it's a curse. Over the last year, I have been working to surround myself with delicious and healthy dessert options that I can crave, enjoy, and feel no regret. I want my dessert to truly be a reward!
