PMS: Behaving Badly

 I'll be blunt. This week PMS is rearing its ugly head. I've been a little off track; I've had caffeine, I only meditated once last week, and I've had sugary desserts instead of my usual healthy alternatives. All of these pitfalls fuel the vicious PMS cycle


Why didn't I take the time to follow the formula that works best for me? Well honestly it's a lot of work. It's totally worth it and it pays off, but prepping meals and snacks, and passing on coffee ain't easy, especially when you catch a cold. So this week I have felt what most women feel. Can you relate to any of this?

Unstoppable, insatiable hunger

A salad with protein, a piece of fruit, and a glass of water normally satisfy you, but not this week. When you PMS, your stomach becomes a bottomless pit and sweet and salty take on a whole new meaning when pizza and ice cream are mixed.

Incessant annoyance and irritability

You get an email from a special co-worker. Let's call her Betty. You normally can respond with grace and professionalism, but this week is a real doozy, and this email is a repeat of questions already asked and answered laced with urgency and entitlement. Fist in mouth.

Dramatic reactions

We've all been there. Your partner or friend is telling you a story and suddenly you find your blood boiling. This is the most difficult situation because it's easy to take frustration out on the people who love you most. There should be an auto-reply message on all devices warning everyone: IT'S PMS WEEK. I'LL REPLY IN 7 - 10 DAYS.

Fantasies about inflicting injuries (minimally of course)

You don't really mean it, but sometimes you can't help but think of the guy who cut in front of you at the store when you're going at that punching bag in your gym class. You'd never do it, but thoughts are thoughts.
